1. Zijlstra's privacy policy

Zijlstra cares deeply about your privacy.
We only process data that is necessary for our services and handle the information we collect about you and your use of our services with care. We never make your data available to third parties for commercial purposes.

This privacy policy applies to the use of the website and the services provided through it by Zijlstra. The effective date of these terms is 17/05/2018. Upon publication of a new version, the validity of all previous versions expires. This privacy policy describes which data we collect about you, how this data is used, and with whom and under what conditions it may be shared with third parties. We also explain how we store your data, how we protect it against misuse, and what rights you have regarding the personal data you provide to us.

1.1. What are personal data?

Personal data refers to any information about an identified or identifiable natural person. This can include a name or phone number, but also a date of birth, postal code with house number, or an IP address.

1.2. Secure connection

When placing an order, your data is encrypted and sent to us via a secure connection. You can recognize the secure connection by the padlock icon in the top right of your browser or the green address bar at the top of your screen. This ensures maximum security to prevent fraud or data theft. The green address bar and/or padlock is shown in all recent versions of Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Firefox.

1.3. What personal data does Zijlstra process?

  • General information: This includes data such as name, address, postal code, and city, which you enter on the order form. We use this information to verify and process your order.
  • Your email address: We use your email address to confirm your order and inform you when your order is ready for shipment. If you have subscribed to our newsletter (and confirmed your subscription), we will occasionally update you with news and offers. You can easily unsubscribe if you no longer wish to receive the newsletter.
  • Your phone number: To ship your order, we always ask for a phone number where you can be reached during office hours. This number is used to verify your order. We do not use your phone number for marketing purposes.
  • Your IP address: We do not store your IP address.
  • Traffic data: Each time you visit our website, traffic data is stored. This includes, for example, the number of pages visited or which items were ordered. This data is not personally identifiable and is only used to improve the user-friendliness of our website.
  • Customer service: You can call or email us. To improve our service and avoid you having to repeat your story, we take notes that we keep. Phone calls are not recorded.
  • Payment data: To process your order payment, we use a secure payment environment. When you make a payment, your data is processed and stored in our administration and by the bank and payment services to link the payment to your order.
  • Retention period: We retain your data for at least 7 years after your order is completed (this is the legal retention period imposed by the Dutch Tax Authority).

Your data is not shared with third parties. Of course, we do need to provide address details to our carriers to deliver the orders.

1.4. What rights do you have regarding your personal data?

If you decide that you no longer wish to receive information from us about our new products and/or services, you can easily let us know by sending us an email or by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the relevant Zijlstra mailing. You also have the right to request a data export of the information we use with your consent, or to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data.

1.5. Changes to this statement

Zijlstra reserves the right to amend this Privacy Statement if deemed desirable or necessary. Changes will always be published on the website (in this Privacy Statement).
